This ground-floor apartment had three established garden beds filled with mature trees, subtropical foliage, grasses, natural rocks and a small water feature. The structure was already there. The job was to remove the distractions, protect what was working and restore a clean, cared-for finish.
Work with the garden that already exists
Established planting gives a garden maturity and character that cannot be replaced quickly. Instead of clearing everything, the rejuvenation focused on careful weed removal and clearing accumulated leaf litter while keeping the healthy trees, grasses, feature plants and rockwork intact.
See the change
The starting photos show where weeds, accumulated leaf litter and untidy groundcover were competing with the established planting and rock features. The completed views show the same garden after careful clearing, targeted mulch and a thorough tidy-up.

Detailed weeding makes the next step worthwhile
Fresh mulch looks best—and performs better—when weeds and unwanted growth are removed first. Working carefully around established roots, plant crowns and rocks created a cleaner base without disturbing the character of the garden.
Use mulch where it will make a difference
Approximately half a cubic metre of fresh mulch was spread through the agreed visible areas. The aim was not to bury every part of the three beds. Targeted coverage refreshed the areas that needed it, helped retain soil moisture and reduced exposed ground while preserving the natural rock and planting features.
A complete job includes the clean-up
Once the beds were weeded and mulched, the surrounding paving, edges and work areas were cleared. In apartment and shared-access settings, leaving paths safe and tidy is an important part of the finished result.
