Lawn and garden transformations

Real project stories showing how practical care and custom planning can make outdoor spaces more useful, manageable and enjoyable.

Commercial grounds care · Wollongong

A more welcoming, well-kept business frontage.

This Wollongong business site needed practical care across its customer-facing frontage and surrounding grounds. The visit combined lawn care, detailed pruning, weeding, vine removal and surface clearing to improve the site’s overall presentation while working around the existing landscape.

  • Front lawn mowing and edging
  • Bottlebrush pruning and hedge tidying
  • Weeding and vine removal
  • Leaf litter and debris blown clear
  • Side and rear access areas cleared

Completed work shared with permission. New mulch was not part of this visit.

Commercial grounds care · Northern Illawarra

A brighter, tidier preschool environment.

This one-off commercial tidy-up covered the centre’s outdoor learning areas, paths, entrance, staff area and car park. Leaf litter and debris were blown clear, displaced sand and mulch were returned to the appropriate areas, and presentation spaces were left clean and ready for the centre.

  • Outdoor learning and play-area tidy-up
  • Leaf, sand, mulch and debris clean-up
  • Paths, entrance and car-park presentation
  • Work planned around the needs of an education site

Completed work shown with permission. No children or identifying centre details are displayed.

Wollongong apartment garden rejuvenation

Restoring the detail in an established garden.

Three established garden beds at a ground-floor apartment needed careful attention rather than a complete redesign. Weeds and leaf litter were removed around the existing trees, grasses, rocks and feature plants so the structure of the garden could stand out again.

Fresh mulch was then applied to the agreed visible areas, helping define the planting, retain moisture and give the beds a clean, natural finish. Paths, edges and surrounding work areas were left tidy.

  • Garden-bed rejuvenation around established planting
  • Fresh mulch supplied and carefully spread
  • Final path, edge and work-area clean-up

Custom front garden planting

A welcoming garden bed, planned for the space.

This curved bed had become overgrown and needed a fresh start. After clearing the unwanted growth, I worked through the placement of the new hydrangeas before planting—making sure the spacing complemented the existing urn and allowed room for the plants to establish.

The bed was then prepared, planted and finished with an even layer of mulch for a cleaner look and better moisture retention.

Illawarra family garden refresh

Giving a beautiful family garden the care it needed.

With five family members and a busy household, keeping on top of a large lawn and established garden can be difficult. The space already had plenty of character—it simply needed some focused care to bring it back to a clean, welcoming standard.

The lawn was mown and edged, weeds and unwanted growth were cleared, and the garden borders were carefully tidied so the existing plants and structure could shine again.

Bulli lawn and garden reset

Bringing an overgrown lawn back under control.

This Bulli lawn was mown, the edges were cleaned up and untidy garden areas were reset. The result is a fresher, more manageable yard, with further work planned to continue the transformation.

Seeing the potential before work begins.

For larger garden changes, I can assess the site and prepare a visual concept around how the space is used, what needs improving and the level of ongoing care it will require.

Concept visualisations: these images show proposed ideas only. They are not photographs of completed work.

Early-learning entrance garden

A clearer, more welcoming first impression.

The existing garden bed had strong established trees but an overgrown lower layer. The concept explores selective removal, a simple row of compact native shrubs and fresh mulch to create structure while keeping the garden practical to maintain.

  • Retain the established trees
  • Replace overgrown lower planting
  • Add defined, low-maintenance structure
  • Finish with fresh mulch

Outdoor learning space

Turning a bare playhouse into a greener feature.

The existing timber structure offered a strong framework but little shade or planting interest. This concept explores four Hardenbergia ‘Happy Wanderer’ climbers—one from each side—to create seasonal colour and a more inviting garden setting.

  • Four climbers positioned around the structure
  • Use the existing framework for support
  • Add colour and a stronger connection to the garden
  • Allow for staged growth and ongoing training
